Reasonable – Unreasonable Search Related to School Activities

Determine if the search is Reasonable or Unreasonable as related to school activities.

  Reasonable Unreasonable
1. Students walk through metal detectors to enter school.    
2. Students are searched by security guards before they enter school.    
3. Some students were seen drinking beer in the bleachers at a football game.    
4. A student's backpack has an unusual bulge that a makes a teacher suspicious who then decides to search the backpack.    
5. A teacher's wallet is stolen. Jon saw Sara do it and told administration.    
6. Students' bags are searched before students get on the bus heading to a camping trip.    
7. Students going on the same trip are required to empty their pockets of their contents before boarding the bus.    
8. Teachers decide to examine the students' t-shirts to find out who has the dirtiest t-shirt.    
9. Teachers search the students' wallets to make sure that all students have their student cards with them.    
10. The school's principal requires one student to give access to her email accounts to determine whether or not she is bullying other students.
